How to Build Groups on LinkedIn

- Select a group relevant to your industry and one that you are interested in. If you aren’t interested in what you sell, your buyers won’t be interested either.
- Listen to get a feel for the tone of comments and conversations—the best social sellers are the best listeners.
- Try to determine the influencers in the group and which type of posts and comments attract the most attention.
- Start by liking a few posts or comments—this displays your name and profile photo in prominent locations, helping build your equity in the group.
- Determine if you can add value or identify a problem that the group has where you might be able to offer a solution.
- Comment where you can add value—try to mirror the tone and behavior of the top influencers, but in your own voice.
- Start a new discussion.
- Turn on the email option so you can be alerted of activity in the group.
- Dedicate a certain amount of time per week to engage in the group
