Snapchat Goes All In
Along with a brand new redesigned mobile platform, Snapchat has taken a big step in expanding its global outreach. On Monday, the social media company announced it launched its first localized Discover channel in Norway, VG. Being the most widely read online newspaper in the country, VG will grant snap users an exclusive daily local platform in a country of highly active users. Even though local news seems to be a thing of the past with snappers, this highly regarded publisher will only help the social media giant expand as it prepares for its IPO later this year. Google’s PR Team Has a Serious Case of Sass
Who says the rumor mill can’t cause a good laugh? In a report conducted by Women’s Wear Daily (WWD), Google was speculated to acquire Condé Nast, a company operating various magazines and web properties. Usually, the Silicon Valley giant does not comment on rumors, but this time, the PR team at Google had some fun with their response to the speculation:
“You seem Wired into the latest chatter. We got some Backchannel from a New Yorker that this gossip was en Vogue. When your question came in and we Reddit, it made us quite Epicurious because your stories have some Allure. But Self-ishly we don’t comment on rumors (Glamour–ous or otherwise). Bon Appétit!”
Yikes, that’s some serious shade thrown there. This might be a TKO! (Source: Mashable).
iOS 11 Could Have Group Facetime Calls
We have yet to see Apple’s iOS software for Mac and iPhone allow for group Facetime calling. That could all change with Apple’s newest installment, iOS 11, scheduled to be released this Fall. Less popular apps like House Party and Skype have already integrated group calling, and this would be a much welcomed addition to the existing Facetime platform. With Facetime being such a popular choice for video calls, group calling would make it much easier to video chat with your parents and sister at the same time to tell them about that new guy who took you out for coffee and already wants a 2nd date.
