Google News & Conspiracy Blogs
As we talked about yesterday, Facebook is taking a hit for hoax stories being spread during the election. Facebook isn’t the only site people are pointing fingers at, Google News is also in the spotlight now. . Google News’ search algorithm was bringing up false results. Google results for “final election numbers” or “final vote count 2016” resulted in a blog called 70 News which seems to be run by one individual. The article answers the questions of final election numbers with, “FINAL ELECTION 2016 NUMBERS: TRUMP WON BOTH POPULAR ( 62.9 M -62.2 M ) AND ELECTORAL COLLEGE VOTES ( 306-232)…HEY CHANGE.ORG, SCRAP YOUR LOONY PETITION NOW!” In case you weren’t keeping up with the election, the numbers this article shares are incorrect and saying Trump won the popular vote is also incorrect. Googlers are saying what a minute, this isn’t cool. A spokesperson for Google did say they are continually working to improve their algorithms. Search with caution. (Source: The Verge)
