FC Barcelona Partners with WhiteBIT

The partnership between Barca, one of the world’s most widely supported soccer clubs, and the largest European crypto exchange WhiteBIT is a three-year cooperation that will run from 2022 until 2025. The partnership between the duo aims to have the opportunity to participate in joint projects to popularise innovative technological solutions. During this partnership period, Whitebit will represent and collaborate with the main elements of Barcelona, the Barca Innovation Hub, and the eSport team.
Barcelona announced on its official website that its partnership with WhiteBIT will underpin its commercial strategy and consolidate its international expansion by remaining a benchmark both on and off the pitch. The duo’s partnership intends to bring crypto participants and soccer fans together by offering various online and offline activities. Whitebit will receive LED screen inventory at Camp Nou and include brand presence across Barcelona’s multiple sports teams. The exchange will engage in digital and physical activations for both the Men and Women’s teams and the indoor sports ecosystem, namely handball, basketball, roller hockey, and futsal teams.
What The Two Parties Had to Say Regarding Their Partnership
Through this partnership, Whitebit intends to boost the football club’s esports attire, with the brand’s trademark set to feature prominently on backdrops during competitions. According to the CEO of Whitebit, Volodymyr Nosov, the collaboration between the exchange and FC Barcelona is a significant step for the community. Nosov said, “The start of our warm relationship with the legendary Barca as an official crypto exchange partner is a significant step for the community as a whole, and for us, it is also a great pride and responsibility”. He added, “We dream, and we dream big; hence we’re sure that our cooperation will bring a new experience of using cryptocurrencies, their accessibility, and comprehensibility for everyone. From the very first days, we have been inspired to bring the future closer and set a new level of integration of crypto solutions into our lives.”
Barcelona revealed another essential aim for this cooperation: raising awareness about cryptocurrencies and their merits to the sports community. FC Barcelona Vice president of Marketing Juli Guiu said, ‘We are pleased to announce this new partnership, another example of the club’s commitment to innovation.’ He added, “This partnership will help us to continue growing and developing our global commercial expansion strategy, strengthening the club further while remaining a benchmark in an increasingly competitive field.”
Barcelona’s Footprint in The Crypto World
Barca joined the crypto world in 2020 by joining forces with the crypto project Chilliz aimed to introduce a specific token ticked BAR. At the beginning of November 2021, Barca decided to release a non-fungible token collection by joining forces with Ownix based on the Ethereum blockchain. The partnership aims to depict epic moments from its nearly 122-year history, such as displaying the record 75 trophies it has won in Spain and the 5 UEFA Champions League titles. This initiative was also aimed at granting fans the chance to acquire non-fungible tokens via various auctions throughout the season. A few weeks after the announcement, Barca terminated the partnership after a member of Ownix was charged with several offenses, such as sexual assault and fraud.
At the beginning of 2022, Barca shook hands with its biggest rival, Real Madrid, by filing for a joint Metaverse trademark application. In an interview with experts at Bitcoineer the two teams mentioned that they will provide their fans with virtual reality gaming and cryptocurrency transaction management software for use as an e-wallet.
