Pixel devices will soon have access to AI-powered Google Lens within Assistant. Lens can identify text, such as when you want to save info from a business card, identify landmarks, pull up information and call a phone number written on a paper, among other simple tasks. (Source: The Verge)
Uber Huge Data Breach
New Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi disclosed that a data breach in 2016 revealed 57 million user and driver names, emails, and phone numbers. Uber did not initially report the incident; instead, they paid the hackers $100,000 to trash the data. (Source: TechCrunch)
Facebook Continues Discriminatory Housing Ads
A 2016 investigation found that Facebook allowed advertisers to exclude groups protected by the Fair Housing Act. Facebook still hasn’t fixed the issue, as ads excluding African Americans, Jews, and Hispanics were approved just last week. (Source: CNET)
