Ashley Madison Hacking Update
Last year, hackers had their way with Ashley Madison, leaving the personal information of its over 32 million users completely naked. Reminder: Ashley Madison is the site that helps cheaters find extramarital affairs. Tisk Tisk. Dozens of the site’s users filed lawsuits against Avid Life Media, the parent company of Ashley Madison. In recent developments, a district court judge is making users file a consolidated complaint by June 3rd. What does this mean? Well anyone that wants a piece of the suit must reveal their identity to become a plaintiff, needless to say they’re facing a major catch-22. Around 40 of the 50 plaintiffs filed suits under pseudo names like “John Doe.”
You might be thinking “wait, what about privacy”? Since plaintiffs are representing a class of consumers with “personal stake” and there is compelling public interest in open court proceedings, U.S District Judge John Ross is requiring identities. Considering this is the definition of airing dirty laundry, many plaintiffs aren’t very happy. Guess we’ll see who sticks with it by June. SCANDALOUS. Anyone need a #DigitalReputation makeover? *Cough cough* Ashley Madison. (Source: MSN)

Facebook announceda new feature for its Messenger App that enables you to group chat (sorry, no video chat features yet) whenever you want. Facebook plans to be your one-stop shop for all app needs, and you can expect the app update to reach you within the next 24 hours. Just a heads up, you might need an extra strength Tylenol after hearing 50 voices in your head. (Source: MSN)
Snapchat Accused of Blackface
In celebration of 4/20, Snapchat released a Bob Marley filter complete with dreadlocks and all. Some people are judging the filter hard, saying it’s “disrespectful to Marley’s legacy” and “racist”. Snapchat released a statement saying, “The lens we launched today was created in partnership with the Bob Marley Estate, and gives people a new way to share their appreciation for Bob Marley and his music.” Well handled Snapchat, kudos to you.
