Stephen Hawking, A Brilliant Mind Passes
Let’s take a moment of silence to honor Stephen Hawking. Hawking, a renowned physicist, has died at age 76 peacefully in his Cambridge home early Wednesday morning. Stephen’s works pertaining to black holes and relativity have been instrumental to the progress of modern physics. At age 22, he was diagnosed with ALS, a rare motor neuron disease that shortened his expected life to a few years. We have been blessed with such a talented individual to grace humankind.

Elon Musk Explains his Motives
SpaceX founder, Elon Musk, explained the rationale behind launching his first electric car to Mars. On Feb. 6th, SpaceX launched its first-ever Falcon Heavy rocket that shot the electric car deep into space carrying a passenger dummy called Starman. While many critics claim that this was an ego stunt, Musk wanted to portray a deeper meaning. “Life cannot just be about solving one sad problem after another,” he said. “There needs to be things that inspire you, that make you glad to wake up in the morning and be part of humanity. That is why we did it. We did for you.”

Trump’s Space Force
Speaking of space, President Trump endorsed a separate military service dedicated to space warfare, in his speech to U.S. Marines in San Diego this Tuesday. At first, Trump was not serious about the endeavor, however, he soon thought it may be a great idea! Whether or not the United States decides to dedicate a branch of the military for space, it would roughly take 3-5 years before we can see the branch come to fruition. Perhaps Ronald Reagan’s far-fetched space laser may not be so far off after all.
