University of Utah Offering Video Gaming Scholarships
E-sports are a hot trend in the gaming world and the University of Utah is jumping aboard the train. Starting this Fall, Utah will offer scholarships to competitive video gamers, with full scholarships for up to 35 students possible in the near future. The school has started organizing a varsity ‘e-sports team’, with a squad of players to compete in national online competitions. Personal Helicopters
It seems this is the week of flying personal vehicles (see Kitty Hawk). Japanese GEN Corporation of Nagano has developed a personal helicopter, entitled the GEN H-4. The craft is easy to fly, with a steering bar for control, speeds of 55 miles per hour and 60 minutes of flying time. A great commercial idea would be to have a helicopter mom in her personal helicopter! (Source: Mashable)
Cadillac’s Super Cruise
Taking aim at Tesla’s Autopilot technology, GM will be implementing its new Super Cruise technology into the Cadillac CT6 sedan this Fall. With a combination of sensors, cameras and mapping data, Super Cruise will allow drivers to take their hands off the wheel. It also includes a driver-facing camera that detects if the driver isn’t paying attention and triggers a series of alerts to get the driver refocused on the road. While Super Cruise is not fully autonomous tech, it’s a big step for GM in developing fully autonomous cars. (Source: The Verge)
