NFL Players Unite in Protest During National Anthem
Along with the 15th anniversary of 9/11, yesterday was the start of the 2016 NFL season. A few teams decided to take the time to “call attention to oppression of blacks and other minorities.” Following the lead of the 49ers backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick, teams like the Miami Dolphins and the Seattle Seahawks protested by kneeling or raising their fists during the National Anthem. Kaepernick started the protest idea by not standing during the salute to the Military at the Charger’s pre-game last Thursday. Kaepernick made it clear he meant no disrespect to Veterans, only wanting to stand against police brutality. Surprisingly, Twitter responded with #VeteransForKaepernick from veterans who believed he was indeed making a peaceful protest. (Source: Mashable)
Hillary Clinton Has Got a Case of the Wobbles
Yesterday, victims and heroes were honored for the September 11th attacks at New York City’s Ground Zero. However, the 15th anniversary memorial is not necessarily the event being talked about. All eyes and ears were on Hillary Clinton as she attended the memorial and left abruptly with Secret Service agents by her side. A video you can watch here shows Hillary waiting for her ride while swaying back and forth, as her agents hold a steady grip to keep her from falling. Hillary’s doctor claims she was “overheated,” and was diagnosed with pneumonia just a few days earlier. This has happened a few months after Trump questioned Hillary’s health on whether she is even able to run as a presidential candidate. Hillary still refuses to release any health records and say she’s fine. Doesn’t sound fine to us. (Source: NY Times, NBC News)
Tesla’s Autopilot Is Hopefully Safe Now…or Safer
If you remember, back in June it was released that Tesla’s Autopilot caused a fatal crash by not stopping for a tractor-trailer that turned in front of the car. Since then, Mobileye decided to say “peace out” to providing any more technology to Tesla and Musk embraced radar detection instead. Version 8.0 is supposed to be able to prevent accidents like the tractor-trailer one and cut the accident rates of Model S and Model X by half. During the upcoming weeks, some of the safety-oriented enhancements will be available which include more-visible warnings on the dashboard and improved brake usage for emergencies. And if the driver is not paying attention to any warnings, the system completely deactivates, parks and then turns off. Wonder how much they’re paying people to try it out. (Source: TechCrunch)
