And Employee of the Month goes to… Alexa! Amazon recently announced Alexa for Business, which aims to bring productivity and organization into the workplace. Employees can now use Echo smart speakers with enabled Alexa Skills to set up meetings, book rooms, and perform other basic tasks. With approximately 11 million Alexa enabled devices already sold, moving to the business sector was a natural next step for Amazon. Apple and Google Visit China
Apple CEO Tim Cook attended China’s World Internet Conference for a surprise keynote on AI and how Apple has aided the Chinese economy. This marked the fourth World Internet Conference and is designed to globally promote China’s vision of a more censored and controlled Internet. Google CEO Sundar Pichai was also in attendance for the first time. “The theme of this conference—developing a digital economy for openness and shared benefits—is a vision we at Apple share,” Cook said. “We are proud to have worked alongside many of our partners in China to help build a community that will join a common future in cyberspace.” (Source: Bloomberg Tech & Quartz)
Campbell’s Soup-er Idea
The 148-year-old soup giant plans to roll out an online service that will deliver soups straight to customers’ doors. Campbell has been a beloved and trusted brand by many, but the company must still compete against new organic options that customers tend to gravitate towards. In addition to launching a pilot test of their online delivery service, Campbell is also working on creating “crafted” concoctions with local ingredients in an effort to start fresh. Order up!
