Kartikeya Sharma and iTV Network Are Transforming the Way We Look at Sports
When it comes to running a media business, Kartikeya Sharma does not follow a script. This is probably one of the reasons why his iTV Network, which has never followed in the footsteps of conventional media channels, is so successful today. It began with just one national news channel, India News, and a newspaper called Aaj Samaaj, but today it has evolved into something much bigger. iTV Network just added another national news channel under its umbrella, NewsX, and another newspaper called The Sunday Guardian. It further branched out into regional news channels as well, such as in Punjab, Karnataka, and Gujarat. Kartikeya Sharma did not limit Information TV Network to news broadcast; they also have channels in sectors like infotainment and kids’ entertainment.
Kartikeya Sharma, Founder and Promoter of iTV Network
Kartikeya Sharma takes pride in having built this empire from scratch. He was able to do so because he chose to seize the opportunities that came to him, and as they came to him, which is also his mantra. Take for example the instant success of Indian News, which gained 10% of the market share barely four months after its launch. Sharma’s vision is to create businesses that are resilient and are backed by a team of visionary people, who are led by Sharma himself. The young media entrepreneur sees a lot of untapped potential in the media industry of India even now, and, being a business-minded individual, he aims to leverage that to his advantage further.
Sharma has created a dynamic entity out of iTV Network, which ranges from sophisticated English to the traditional roots of Haryanvi and Bhojpuri. This combination of different elements and out-of-the-box thinking is what led to iTV Network’s becoming an increasingly popular and profitable media house. According to Sharma, “We are diverse as a network and every brand is individual. Nothing is by accident. We look to grow organically in different divisions.” And this is exactly the kind of thinking that led Sharma and his team to dive into the sports industry.
They believed that sports in India will evolve with digitization. Besides, they were adamant about shifting the spotlight from cricket to other sports. Hence came the platform, ProSportify. Under the guidance of Kartikeya Sharma, ProSportify started off by investing in the Pro Wrestling League, which was met with immense success and went on for two seasons. The platform provides opportunities to athletes who play sports other than cricket, such as wrestling and polo.
For the promotion of polo, the Indian Polo Association and ProSportify Ventures are to inaugurate the Indian Arena Polo League in September this year. The representatives of the Indian Polo Association are extremely happy with their collaboration with ProSportify. The Honorary Secretary, Mr. Ravi Rathore, said on the event of the Cavalry Gold Cup, “We are happy to announce the Indian Arena Polo League. We have been working closely with ProSportify Ventures, as they have been doing a stellar job of and supporting and promoting professional sports in India. This will be another feather in their cap and I congratulate Mr. Kartikeya Sharma for his vision, passion, and commitment.” Kartikeya Sharma too had some things to say at the event. He linked polo in India to royalty itself, and he believes that young polo players are among the emerging athletes who will make India proud. Surely, the Polo League sounds like a promising mix of sport, fashion, and lifestyle.
Since Kartikeya Sharma wants to develop iTV Network as a dynamic organization, they are constantly looking for ways to improve. Recently the editorial team was restructured and Mr. Sarvesh Tewari was appointed as the Managing Editor for India News. With his extensive knowledge and expertise, acquired over the course of more than 20 years, he will be a valuable asset for iTV Network. With him as the new addition to the team, we can expect even more innovative content and shows on our TV screens very soon.
We hope you enjoyed this promoted piece as much as we did!
