1. Coca-Cola Launches 1st Alcoholic Beverage
Coca-Cola has officially released its first alcoholic drink since its start 125 years ago. Unfortunately, you have to travel to Japan to try it. Japan, known for its eclectic and innovative market, is always looking to try new things. Since the country introduces over 100 new products each year, brands must constantly be innovative to survive in the market. The drink itself is called Chu-Hi, essentially flavored sparkling water & vodka. 2. President Obama Partners with Netflix
Former first couple Michelle and Barack Obama have reportedly negotiated with Netflix to produce a series of exclusive shows highlighting inspirational stories and policy matters. Netflix’s stock is currently trading at an all-time high and last week alone, its share price shot up nearly 10%. That surge has made Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings, nearly $400 million richer than the week before. The Netflix deal would give President Obama an unfiltered method of communication with the public similar to the audiences he already reaches through social media, with 101 million Twitter followers and 54 million Facebook followers. For those who are constantly trying to learn more about the ambiguous cryptocurrency market or just don’t know how to have a conversation with all-knowing ‘Dan’ in the cubicle next door, John Oliver, host of the Last Week Tonight show, nails a basic understanding of blockchain, cryptocurrency and Bitcoin within 25 minutes. He manages to talk about many of the crazy things that happened in cryptoland recently, from Long Island Iced Tea rebranding to the meme Dogecoin that made fun of Bitcoin and ended up making $2M. “It’s everything you don’t understand about money combined with everything you don’t understand about computers,” Oliver said.
