DoorDash Robots Deliver Food in California
Food delivery system DoorDash has rolled out robots to start delivering food to California natives. In partnership with robotic delivery developer Starship Technologies, DoorDash has a fleet of six delivery robots for active use in California, delivering food from restaurants to customers within 1 to 2 miles. With plans to expand across the U.S., these ‘dasher’ bots may soon be the face of the food delivery system. Entry-level job search board WayUp has raised $18.5 million in Series B funding to execute on its mission of helping recent grads find work. Job boards like LinkedIn and Indeed are geared towards careers of all ages, while WayUp primarily focuses on the latest college graduates looking to grab their first job. CEO and co-founder Liz Wessel said, “LinkedIn is built for a much older generation,” adding that WayUp is an easier platform for entry level candidates to use. Microsoft Partners With Toyota For Connected Car Program
Microsoft has agreed to license its patents for Internet-connected cars to Toyota, its first such deal with an automaker, and a possible sign that there may be expansion in connected vehicles. Along with numerous other companies such as Google, Intel, and Qualcomm, Microsoft has recognized the opportunity to grow the connected car industry by implementing vehicle operating systems, Wi-Fi, motion sensors, and voice recognition. The company says it sees driving becoming far more personalized and convenient in the future.
