Implementing a Successful Social Media Strategy
Social media campaigns are part of a raft of digital marketing tools that can be used to help promote companies, products and services. Using social media in a way that is savvy can produce great results, but those who don’t follow a few simple rules may be wasting their time. Here we look at the basic requirements needed to implement a successful social media strategy.
Aims of the Campaign
Start by outlining the aims of the campaign and ensure that they are aligned with those of your business. It is likely that the social campaign will be part of a wider marketing vision and so a cohesive approach is called for.
Two of the most important factors of social media campaigns is to reach as many relevant people as possible and then to get them to engage with the content you are posting. If, however, the content doesn’t help you achieve your aims, this is pretty pointless.
Prioritize Platforms
Choosing which platform best suits your business needs is also paramount to success. For example, it would be unwise to use YouTube if you are not planning to produce a significant amount of video content for the campaign.
Seek to use the platforms that you think are best suited to the content you will be posting and the audience you want to reach.
Know Your Audience
Understanding who to target, just as with many areas of business, is vital if your social strategy is to be effective. Start by thinking about the target audience for your business and their interests. The process of getting to know your audience is something that will be refined over time and things like A/B testing can help you to do this.
Crafting Content
Content is key to getting an audience to engage, so think carefully about factors such as images, key messages, and calls to action that will increase the chances of getting good engagement. There are efficient tools out there such as Hootsuite as outlined by TNT, as a brilliant way of secluding all of your content in advance to ensure you can be proactive and organized when creating your social media strategy.
Always bear in mind that content needs to be of interest to the audience, to offer them something, inform, or entertain. Only then will they begin to share, engage and enjoy what you are doing and only then will you have implemented a successful social media strategy.
