Fighting the Statistic
Safety experts say that an average of 37 children die in locked vehicles every year. Starting in 2018, the new Nissan Pathfinder will include sensors that can detect when the rear door is opened before a trip, so that if the driver neglects to close the rear door again after the car in parked, the horn will beep several times as a reminder. The new system will also display an alert on the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, so the driver gets a reminder even before he or she leaves the vehicle. (Source: The Verge)
Apple Watch 2.0
If you want to leave your phone at home, your iWatch is suddenly a bit less smart. Without an iPhone nearby, it can’t pull data — be it messages or music — over the cell networks. However, according to Bloomberg, this is about to change. Bloomberg has reported that Apple is working on a Watch with a built-in LTE (compliments of a chip from Intel), with plans to release the model by year’s end. Naturally, most people have their phones attached to the hip 99% of the time, but imagine being able to leave the phone at home for trips to the beach, or the gym or while out running errands without leaving your friends and family unable to reach you in an emergency. Pretty cool right? (Source: Tech Crunch)
