The month of June means two things: sunny weather and pride month! And major cities aren’t the only ones celebrating. Tech companies have included quirky, fun features just for the occasion. With San Francisco and New York’s annual Pride events hitting this weekend, it’s a good time to reflect on just how far LGBTQ visibility in the tech community has come in a few short years. Hackers Target British Government
Over the weekend, the British Parliament was hit by a cyberattack that prevented lawmakers from accessing their email remotely. Once authorities discovered unusual activity, they took measured steps for protection such as preventing access outside the Palace of Westminster. In an e-mail to Members of Parliament, parliamentary authorities say that they have “confirmed that hackers were carrying out a sustained and determined attack on all parliamentary user accounts in an attempt to identify weak passwords.” Makes you want to change your passwords doesn’t it? Google has announced the release of its new job search aggregation technology, which allows users to search for jobs using filters to obtain highly targeted results from resources across the web. The Google search technology allows users to filter job searches by various criteria such as commuting distance or specific methods of transportation including bus, rail, or car. It can also filter by seniority, benefits, employment type, or other information. “The Google Jobs API on the J&J careers site enables candidates to find open positions across the company in a much more intuitive and relevant way,” said Sjoerd Gehring, global VP of Talent Acquisition at Johnson & Johnson.
