Trump Called Out by Comey’s Testimonfefe
Former FBI Director James Comey delivered his testimony in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee yesterday morning. He had released his own documented interactions with President Trump prior to the hearing. In his testimony, Comey called out Trump and his administration for lying when they reported agents had lost confidence in Comey. He also stated that he believed he was fired to impact the Russian investigation. Suddenly, Frank Underwood isn’t looking so bad anymore. (Source: CNN & Wall Street Journal)
Under Oath
Verizon’s plan to acquire Yahoo started last July and will close within the week. The new combined company, Oath, will be headed by AOL CEO Tim Armstrong and organized around news, sports, lifestyle, finance, and entertainment. Yahoo will rename itself “Altaba Inc.” and serve as an investment-holding company. After the $4.5 billion deal closes, approximately 15% of employees will lose their jobs. Don’t worry though – with the fastest 4G LTE network in the country, Verizon’s got you covered. (Source: TechCrunch & Variety)
There’s No Place Like Airbnb
Airbnb welcomes refugees and other displaced people with its platform Open Homes. This initiative is part of Airbnb’s five year goal to supply free short-term housing to 100,000 people (think people left homeless overnight after a hurricane or first responders and relief workers dispatched to disaster sites). Open Homes unites all of the company’s humanitarian efforts under one simplified approach. “Our new platform allows relief organizations to connect people in need directly with Airbnb volunteer hosts, which means a faster process and few missed opportunities,” Airbnb said. Open Homes currently has 6,000 available listings worldwide. (Source: The Verge & Mashable)
