Taking a Stand
In response to the terror attack in London this past weekend, Facebook said they “want Facebook to be a hostile environment for terrorists.” Social media sites have become a popular conduit for terrorist groups to share their ideas and recruit people to the cause. Facebook believes that cutting off terror groups from the safety and reliability of social platforms restricts their ability to recruit and plan dangerous attacks. As these awful events continue to occur, it is crucial that influential companies do their part to stop terrorism and save lives in the process. (Source: CNET)
Trump Withdraws from Paris Agreement
Donald Trump recently withdrew from the Paris Agreement; an agreement dealing with greenhouse gas emissions mitigation, adaptation and finance starting in the year 2020. Following the decision, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Mark Zuckerberg, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, Tim Cook, and Microsoft President Brad Smith released various statements deploring the decision and ensuring their continued effort towards environmental sustainability. ‘Silicon Valley’ Cast Has App Ideas
The ‘Silicon Valley’ Cast is ready to see an “Uber” for dads on the App Store. The app, according to the cast, will provide the user with a classic dad – like rent a dad. Rated through a feedback system, a highly rated dad will come to your baseball game or give you advice while a low ranked dad will make you feel terrible and question your masculinity. They also had an idea based on the popularity of the data app Tinder. Instead of selecting someone from the opposite sex, you would select different types of wheat. Called Tinder Wheat, a user would swipe left or right for the type of wheat they want regardless of how it is processed. A new take on gluten. (Source: CNET)
