Fruit Shaped Sensors
The Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology is trying to enhance fruit freshness by placing fruit shaped sensors in packaged fruit. The sensors come in shapes of apples, mangos, bananas, and oranges. These sensors can detect drops or changes with the fruits’ cooling processes, notifying the company so they can replace or rearrange the fruit. This process can help prevent fruits from perishing before they reach their destination, saving companies money and inventory in the long run. (Source: BBC News)
