Clips, By Apple
Apple has introduced Clips, an app for designers/editors who want something simpler than Final Cut or iMovie. Clips is really a camera app with some base-level post-processing built in. Its primary use will be to share more Instagram/Snapchat like images across Messages. Apple doesn’t want to miss out on Millennials or Centennials, but they also didn’t want to build another Instagram or Snapchat. This seems like a safe and basic first step. (Source: TechCrunch)
Sway, The Relaxation App
In the world of interactive meditation apps, digital design studio ustwo has thrown its hat into the ring with Sway. Sway draws from ancient Tai Chi by instructing users to guide an amorphous blob around your phone’s screen, as a way of slowing down and relaxing. With included on-screen instructions, calming music and moving visuals to provide gentle movements. Doing actual Tai Chi or simply closing your eyes is another alternative #oldschool. Xfinity Mobile
In response to the rise in “cable cord cutters”, Xfinity Mobile is offering a $65 per month unlimited mobile service to existing Xfinity subscribers. The company’s goal is to build an even bigger bundle for existing TV, landline and internet subscribers. Remember when Comcast’s customer service was so bad that rather than fixing it, they rebranded to Xfinity? It will be interesting to see how the landscape of large bundles versus ala carte models (select only the program you watch) will play out in the next few years. (Source: The Verge)
