Netflix + Comcast
Catch Netflix on your cable box in the near future. Sure you can stream on your smart TV but the online streaming site has partnered with Comcast to put Netflix on Xfinity 1 (X1) cable boxes throughout the US. Rumor has it, Netflix could start doing this next week. X1 customers will be able to browse Netflix within their live, on-demand and DVR TV subscription. This is kinda a big deal because it could mean more subscribers for Netflix. Sure they already have a ton of subscribers but still have room to grow. Having Netflix in line with X1 allows customers to more easily move between live TV and Netflix to make life easier. (Source: Slate)
Facebook Photo Updated
Have you ever had the desire for pictures you take to turn into famous works of art? Facebook might make that possible for you. The site has begun testing new features that turn photos and live videos into pieces of art that don’t look over edited and it’s unlikely someone could draw the same type of posts on Snapchat. The exciting thing is that this represents the most significant artificial intelligence advancements for Facebook which means you can expect many more cool AI apps. The new photo feature is called Style Transfer and is available through the camera feature within the Facebook app. Don’t get too excited yet, it’s only testing in Ireland at the moment but plans to be rolled out soon. History Made via Snapchat
If you used Snapchat lenses yesterday you might have noticed you could magically turn into Hillary Clinton – pantsuit included. Yesterday, Snapchat featured a few different lenses sponsored by Priorities USA Action to endorse HRC prior to election day. One even included a song called the “Hillary Shimmy Song” which transformed you into a shimming HRC.
This lens made Snapchat history by being the first sponsored lens for politics. Meaning it was sponsored by someone other than the political campaign itself. (Source: Mashable)
It’s election day. Read up on the candidates and go vote!
