LinkedIn Wants to Help You Be Recruited
Bored at your job and want to be recruited without letting your current job know? LinkedIn has the solution for this. With a new feature called Open Candidates, you can let recruiters know you are open to a job change. Open Candidates allows you to customize the industries you’re interested in, job location, and size of company. Pretty specific. The good news is that the Open Candidates profiles are only shown to those recruiters who pay the $9,000 premium recruiter LinkedIn fee. Open Candidates has been in beta for a few months and rolls out to all recruiters today. To turn on that you are open to a new job, go to “Jobs” then “Preferences” and update your settings. Samsung Phone Causes Plane to Evacuate
The overheating batteries of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 have been causing a lot of issues. Most recently, a Southwest plane from Louisville to Baltimore had to be evacuated and cancelled due to smoke from a Galaxy Note 7. This just adds on to the issue of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and has people questioning why this phone even exists. To make matters worse, the phone that caused the plane evacuation was a replacement phone that was said to be safe. Considering the recent announcement of Google’s new phone, timing for Samsung phones to be a disaster couldn’t be worse. (Source: USA Today)
Duolingo Adds Chatbots
Duolingo is a great go to for learning a new language. They want to help you practice your new language with chatbots. The idea behind the chatbots is to help users practice conversations. As of now, the chatbots are only available for Spanish, French and German but they want to add more languages soon. Start a text conversation with the bot and they will correct mistakes you make and help give you suggestions if you are struggling with a response. While there are no spoken conversations, we can hope Duolingo will go in that direction soon. (Source: Mashable)
