Microsoft Releases Free Update
Microsoft is releasing a free update for Windows 10 you don’t wanna miss. It’s available until July 29, or you’ll have to pay $119 after the date. The update includes new features like Windows Ink, Microsoft Edge browser extensions and Cortana improvements. Microsoft is also hoping to expand its Hello system to log you into websites by recognizing your face. Most of the hype is not having to log in to your computer, you just click the pen and start writing on the screen. The new Ink Workspace includes sticky notes, a sketchpad and screen sketch. Since their launch last year, Microsoft is celebrating their anniversary with this update. They currently have about 350 million users and hoping to obtain more than a billion users within the next two years. Small goals. (Source: BBC)
Entire Google Life
You can now creep on yourself in a much easier way. Google launched a “My Account” dashboard that provides you with a detailed overview of everything you have ever done on Google. Ever. The data includes your Chrome browsing history, search queries, image searches, videos you’ve watched on YouTube, you name it. You can search by date or product, and it’ll also give you a daily overview of your history. Some people are a little sketched out about the fact Google is storing so much data. You can change your privacy settings in the Activity Controls page to stop Google from gathering this data, but it’ll also change the ads you’ll see. Google is using the data to serve you better-targeted ads, and changing the privacy settings will serve less relevant ads for your preferences. Oh the struggle. (Source: Mashable)
Facebook Changes News Feed Algorithm…Again
Facebook is once again changing the algorithm on its News Feed. Family and friends are now taking full priority over publishers. This change is epic, because the platform has been a primary way of distributing global news. A lot of publishers have relied on Facebook’s News Feed for the amount of traffic their website receives. Last year, Facebook changed the News Feed into a feed of videos and publishers had to hire directors and producers to fill the gap. Now, the new move makes it even more difficult for them to be seen at all. “Our success is built on getting people the stories that matter to them most,” said Adam Mosseri, vice president of product management at Facebook. “If you could look through thousands of stories every day and choose the 10 that were most important to you, which would they be? The answer should be your News Feed.” (Source: The Verge)
