1. Microsoft Goes Retro
As Microsoft users eagerly await the release of the next Windows update, the tech giant had something else in mind. Microsoft took to Twitter to tease the release of Windows 1.0—the first ever 1985 version. The 13-second video started with the most recent logo, went back in time and landed at the very first classic Windows logo ever. The video made its mark by accumulating over 300,000 views.
So what’s with the sudden blast from the past?
It turns out, Microsoft is just as excited as we are for the release of the third season of Stranger Things. The popular Netflix series takes place in 1985—the exact year that Microsoft came out with its first graphical user interface (GUI). Microsoft isn’t the only company to partake in the nostalgia, Nike and Schwinn released limited editions of their shoes and bikes as a nod to the show. Even Coca-Cola has gone back to the ’80s with the revival of New Coke. As Microsoft said in another tweet, “It’s going to be totally tubular!”

2. Cloudflare Causes Internet Wobble
Early Tuesday morning, many internet users were disappointed to be receiving a 502 error message. The error seemed to originate from an internet security service called Cloudflare. The code signifies that the server received an invalid response from another server it was trying to contact. This is the second outage in two weeks and it has caused multiple services like OkCupid, Peloton, Feedly, and CoinDesk to be disrupted.
Has it been fixed?
Cloudflare CEO Michael Prince confirmed that the outage was not due to an attack, but a server overload. The outage has been fixed and users are able to access their sites again. There is no word whether this outage was related to the previous outage where Prince publicly blamed Verizon’s network routing issue.
