2. New MacBook Pro Launches
Apple released a new MacBook with a tweaked keyboard. This new keyboard features silicone barriers underneath the keys to increase their lifespan. Past Macbooks have had problems with the keys getting stuck or not working altogether from dust accumulation. According to Apple, the keyboard changes were designed to address the loudness of the keys, not the tendency of dust (or let’s admit it, gross food particles) build-up. Apple is saying, “We made the keyboards quieter,” others are saying they were fixing a known defect. Either way, the keyboard should be better.

3. Walmart Audio Surveillance Patent
Walmart recently filed a patent for audio surveillance to listen to its customers and employees. Questions are arising on whether or not this is even legal. “We’ve made it perfectly clear in the patent that all sounds will be picked up, including voice,” Walmart’s director of corporate communications, Ragan Dickens, told CBS News. “But we’ve also made clear the intent of the technology,” Dickens added. According to the patent filed Tuesday, the sensors would be distributed through at least a portion of the facility and collect data that will create a performance metric for Walmart workers. The sensors will record how many items are scanned, how many bags are used, how long shoppers wait in line and how employees greet customers. This will also decrease customer or… employee theft. Ever wanted to be a fly on the wall? Walmart does.
