Snapchat Loses Favoritism Among Teens
Snapchat rolled out a new design, hoping to win over the 35 and up crowd. Unfortunately, for Snapchat, their younger crowd had a lot to say. So much so, a petition on Change.org has rallied 564K supporters to remove the new update. Instead of making the app easier to use, users believe it’s more difficult. As a way to change back, individuals are using a VPN app to switch over to the old update. Even a fake tweet was fabricated, claiming Snapchat will revert back to its old design if users express their dislike for it. So far it has received 1.3M retweets, becoming the 6th largest retweet of all time. (Source: Ad Age)
Snapchat Makes Another Major Push
As a second major push, Snapchat’s Snap Maps are now accessible on the web. The original Snap Maps is accessible only to your friends and shows users’ Bitmoji’s. The online Snap Maps eliminates these usernames (for privacy reasons) and highlights Our Stories and other public snaps. These recent updates are a push towards recruiting non-Snapchat users in an effort to turn around the company’s downward slope of user growth and stock price. (Source: The Verge & Mashable)
Google & Facebook Dating Rulebook 101
Google and Facebook are revamping their dating work policies. Both companies have agreed on a ‘one strike and you’re out’ policy. If you ask out a coworker and they say no, then you can’t ask again. “Ambiguous” responses — like “I’m busy,” or “I can’t that night” — count as a “no,” Heidi Swartz, Facebook’s global head of employment law, said. According to an annual Valentine’s Day survey, 41 percent of workers have dated a coworker. The survey also found that 30 percent of those office romances resulted in marriage. “Are you from accounting? Because I was ac-counting on seeing you later.” (Source: Business Insider)
