In wake of the recent terror attack on a gay nightclub in Orlando, Prince William will appear on the cover of Attitude, UKs leading online gay magazine. Prince William was previously scheduled for this photoshoot but in light of the tragedy in Orlando, his support couldn’t come at a better time. Prince William visited the US embassy this week to sign a book of condolence for the victims in the shooting. The Prince is standing up for the LGBT community as individuals are being bullied from homophobic, biphobic and transphobic individuals. This is historic as Prince William will be the first member of the royal family to appear on a gay magazine. “No one should be bullied for their sexuality or any other reason,” declared Prince William. He invited LGBT members to the Kensington Palace to discuss their struggles with being bullied and the mental health implications caused from it. (Source: Mashable)
Internet Deemed a Utility Like Water & Gas: Cable Providers File L
Yesterday, a federal appeals court ruled that FCC has the ability to reclassify internet service providers as “common carriers.” Meaning high-speed Internet is a utility now just like water and gas. But last year, FCC approved net neutrality – aka making sure internet service providers should treat data from companies all the same. A company like Netflix shouldn’t be able to get in the “fast line” and pay for a premium to stream high quality video, while other companies are SOL if they can’t afford the price. “After a decade of debate and legal battles, today’s ruling affirms the Commission’s ability to enforce the strongest possible Internet protections that will ensure the Internet remains open, now and in the future,” FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler said. Groups such as the U.S. Telecom Association and other internet service providers filed a suit claiming FCC doesn’t have the authority to this right and it’s violating companies’ first amendment rights. Dude, Where’s My Car?
If we weren’t dependent on our smartphones enough already, Apple is now rolling out with an app that will help you find your parked car. All of us have had that “moment” when leaving a store and thinking “ermahgerd where’s my car?!” Remember that Seinfeld episode?
The new feature will come to Apple Maps iOS 10. Then, when you need to find your car, a parked car icon will show up in Maps with directions and eta to your ride. The best part is you won’t even have to remember to drop a pin beforehand, because Apple Maps will do it for you as soon as your car becomes stationary. Apple even announced at a developer’s conference that they’d be opening maps to some third party developers to allow for tasks like hailing a cab or booking a reservation at a restaurant. And Maps is supposedly becoming smarter, as it’ll take data from your calendars and find the best route to your next coffee date. (Source: TechCrunch)

Urban design and architecture organization Terreform Open Network Ecology (ONE) is constructing a cricket pod to help protect and feed people in catastrophic disasters. Yep, cricket tofu. “In a tsunami or a massive fire, everything is devastated, you don’t have access to cows, pigs or chickens, so people will need access to good sources of alternative protein,” said the co-founder. The pod can produce up to 22,000 insects every six to twelve weeks on a roof or backyard. While this seems crazy to the majority of Westerners, insects are a steady part of many countries daily diets.The bugs are supposed to be optimal, because they contain protein, are sustainable and cheap.
