Snapchat Accused of Whitewashing
Everyone’s favorite selfie app Snapchat is getting some backlash. Selfie takers are calling the app out on how they deal with race. The flower crown filter, also known as Coachella filter, gives you a flower crown while lightening skin and contouring one’s face. The app is also getting called out for its “beautifying” filter that makes eyes and skin lighter. Users are tweeting whitewashing isn’t cool and sharing their dislikes with the app. Snapchat hasn’t said anything on the issue yet. (Source: Mashable)
YouTube iOS Jumps Into Virtual Reality
Everyone loves to talk about virtual reality. YouTube Android users have been able to experience VR through Cardboard since November, but iPhone users were out of luck. But not anymore. As of yesterday, iPhone users can tap the right corner of a video and be given the option to view in VR mode. Why should you care?
